Culture Night 2013 & The Opening of the Outsider Art Exhibition

Culture Night 2013 was a great success. Our artwork ‘Finding Ouroboros’ was very well recieved. Everyone had a great time and the feedback was amazing. We would like to thank Denise in the Doorway Gallery for creating such an outstanding event.

“Our artwork was in a great gallery for culture night. The Doorway Gallery was filled with people. Everyone was asking me about our work. My mother thought the show was brilliant. We took some picture of all of the amazing edible art. The edible art show was great the cakes were lovely. The one of the woman with the skull face was excellent.”

“I had a great time. It was nice to see everyone enjoying our art. I went into the show with my Aunt and Uncle. They were very impressed with the exhibition. Along with our Outsider art show there was an Edible art exhibition opening on the same night. After we viewed the show we got got ourselves a coffee across the road, sat outside and enjoyed the music that was playing on the street. There was some amount of people out that night. It was a great success.”

“Myself and the guys got the bus into town to see our artwork in the Doorway Gallery. We had a great look at everyone else’s work too, which was brilliant. I really liked the paintings with the cups in them.”

– Anthony Murray

“I liked the way that our artwork was in the main window. We bought a cup of tea just outside the gallery and listened to some music. The street was closed off and they had a stage in the middle of the street.”

– Janet Hogan

“We seen the art last friday and it was good. I’d love to go again next year. Our artwork was my favourite piece in the show. You could see our artwork from the main st. She was in the window looking out at all the festivities.”

“There was singing in the streets and a long queue to get into the gallery which was a great sign. Everyone must have been dying to see our work.”

– Patrick Tunstead

“It was very interesting. Some of the sculptures were very good. The cake of Oscar Wilde really stood out for me. The music outside was great. I thought the whole experience was brilliant, it just goes to show that there are loads of people with a great imaginations out there.”

EVE Harvest also had a collaborative artwork titled ‘Flock’ in the show.

We were very impressed with their work. Well done to everyone involved!
