Estuary Athletes Going for Gold!
We made front page news!!
Congratulations and best of luck to all our athletes who qualified for the Special Olympics Ireland Games 2014.
Our squad of 13 athletes and 3 coaches will be attending the games. These athletes qualified for the Eastern Region Team in July 2013 and have been training very hard ever since for the Ireland Games. They will be participating in three sports including athletics, bocce and pitch and putt.
The games will take place over four days in several venues throughout Limerick from the 12th to 15th June 2014. To kick off the big event there is an opening ceremony on Thursday 12th June at 6.30pm opening with a parade through the heart of Limerick City, down O’Connell Street which will culminate in the Peoples Park, and in the following three days the sporting competitions will take place.
A total of 1,500 athletes from all over the Island will participate in 13 sports and a team of approximately 100 athletes will be chosen from these to represent Team Ireland at the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles in 2015.
Linda Nolan, centre manager, and staff of EVE Estuary would like to congratulate the athletes on their success so far and wish them all the best of luck in Limerick.
