Up, Up & Away….Imagination Taking Flight!!

The art instructor here in EVE Estuary, Rachel Kiernan,  brought in part of her latest art installation titled ‘Begin Creating or Remain the Same’ to the art class. She wanted to give the art group the opportunity to see the possibilities of what can be created from recycled materials.

The artwork consists of a giant set of wooden wings created out of recycled pallet wood. She hoped to inspire and stimulate our own exploration of the theme of wings and flight.

We also took the opportunity to get our photographs taken in front of these gigantic wings and sketched out our own interpretation of them.

We had begun an exploration into the theme of wings and welcomed this opportunity to see this artwork up close to see how it was made.

We have begun work on our own cardboard version of a set of wings, here is our work so far.

Rachel created this sculpture as part of an art installation which she will be installing at Body and Soul Festival next week.
