Our Annual Centre Outing 2014

For our annual centre outing this year we decided to take a spin down to Co. Kildare. We started off our day with a trip to the Irish National Stud. While we were there we were given a fully guided tour of the grounds. Our tour guide introduced us to many great legends in the horsing world such as ‘Kicking King’, ‘Beef or Salmon’ and ‘Moscow Flyer’. The weather was amazing and we really enjoyed the tour.

The Japanese gardens also has a very nice coffee shop beside it. With the weather being so nice we decided to sit outside on the veranda and have a coffee or tea.

After working up a hunger, we hit the road again and headed for The Killeshin Hotel in Portlaoise. We all really enjoyed the meal here and the atmosphere was lovely.

Our day couldn’t have gone any better.

“I had a good day. It was very enjoyable, I would love to do something like it again. The meal was my favourite part of the whole day, it was very tasty. I love horses and have backed a few of the horses that I seen at the Stud. It was great to be able to get up close to them and be able to pet them.” – Pascal Fitzpatrick

“I thought it was a great day. I loved seeing all of the beautiful horses. The meal in the hotel was lovely and tasty.” – Pauline Rush

“It was an excellent trip. The gardens were beautiful.” – Janet Hogan

“It was a good trip. The drive down was lovely, I enjoyed that. It was good to get a tour of the national stud and gardens. The style of the garden was nice, it was Japanese styled. The coffee shop there is beautiful. It was great weather so we sat outside. Dinner in the Killeshin hotel was lovely, I had the salmon. All in all it was a great trip and I’d love to do something similar again real soon.” – Kieran Morris

“I enjoyed myself on the outing. It was great craic getting up so close to the horses that you could pet them. I was so surprised that they even came over. The stables were very impressive. They had special flooring for the horses feet and had windows in them that were designed especially so that the horses could see the stars. The beef at dinner was gorgeous!!!!! The desert was super sweet but nice all the same.” – Matthew Colgan

Matthew Colgan took some great photos during our tour. Here are some of his best shots.
